cafe ayllu parte 1
www.cafeayllu.com This short documentary by Mario Silva shows the daily life of a very famous and probably the last typical cusquenian coffee shop in Cusco, Peru. Ayllu means community in quechua, the extended family. After 37 years the coffee shop is being threatened by modernity and greed, and as it is located on the main square of Cusco, there are many international franchises interested in taking over. The space, belongs to Cuscos archbishopric. Previous archbishops have been not only good friends and customers of El Ayllu, but also fair and proud landlords of this Cusco institution. The actual archbishop doesnt feel that proud supporting this business, he wants change, he wants modernization.
